Etienne Rousseau Theatre - ERT · Sasolburg
An overlooked theatre performer finally gets his chance to take centre stage - but when his imposter syndrome begins to manifest before his eyes, surviving the role may be harder than earning it. A story born from a love of theatre. A production built by young filmmakers. And a film brought to life by the Sasolburg community.
Written and directed by former Sasolburg High School learner and 19-year-old filmmaker Wian Fourie, Blackout is an ambitious independent short film created by a team of young South African filmmakers and performers. Filmed across Sasolburg, including inside the Etienne Rousseau Theatre and Sasolburg High School, Blackout brings its story back to the very stage where it was partially created.
When you take your seat for the premiere, you won't just be watching the film - you'll be sitting inside part of it. From the theatre and school that opened their doors to the production, to local businesses, families, friends, and community members who helped make the project possible, Blackout is a film that belongs to more than just the people whose names appear on screen.
This is a full-scale independent production made with local support and young South African talent
