Khaya Mthembu Salter is an emerging guitarist and composer from Cape Town.
His music draws from a rich blend of influences, including South African jazz, blues, classical music, and modern jazz, with a core focus on improvisation and dynamic band interaction. This performance offers a
preview of the music culminating in his final recital and beyond—showcasing the sounds that have
shaped him as an artist and pointing toward his future musical direction.
Khaya has performed at festivals such as the Prince Albert Jazz Festival and the Makhanda Jazz
Festival, and has shared the stage with acclaimed musicians such as Hein van de Geyn and Kesivan
Naidoo.
