District Six Homecoming Centre · Cape Town
Award-winning comedian Phil de Lange returns with his latest one-man show, Why Are You Like This? at The Homecoming Centre in Cape Town for the first time!
Blending observational stand-up with musical comedy, the show dives into Phil's world as he tries to come to terms with having the emotional stability of 70 year old man not getting his way at the pharmacy. Along the way, the show takes an unexpected turn into his own family history — uncovering a story from wartime Europe that proves more more meaningful than he anticipated.
A South African Comics Choice Awards winner, de Lange performed a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2025, earning an “Excellent Show” rating from Fringe Review, which praised his “spirited, joyful and uplifting” performance.
Why Are You Like This? is his third solo hour, following The Phil Spectrum and The Phil Monty, and invites audiences into the development of a brand-new show — raw, playful, and evolving.
